Red Clover P.E
Detailed Product Description
Red clover (trifolium pratense L.) is a perennial herb. Red clover contains very high levels of all four isoflavones , including biochanin A, formononetin, daidzein and genistein. These isoflavone constituents also exist as corresponding sugar derivatives (glycosides), sissotrin, ononin, diadzin and genistin. Current research has shown that isoflavones are the most potent Phytoestrogens (plant estrogens), hormone-like substances. For women, estrogens truly reduce the impact of aging. During adolescence and the child-bearing years, the bodys own estrogens maintain bone strength and quality of our skin. These estrogens also maintain the health of arteries and normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Normal brain function and emotional states are also influenced by estrogens. This leads to the inescapable conclusion that estrogens play a vital role in maintaining the youthfulness of our tissues. Around the age of 35, a womans own production of estrogens may slow. This is a challenging time for many women, and the maintenance of life style, well-being, and normal body function is important to the enjoyment of this stage of life.
The effects of giving supplemental estrogens are well known. They help the body maintain healthy bones as well as healthy cholesterol levels. They maintain arterial wall elasticity, the feel and appearance of the skin, normal mood and emotions, and the ability to concentrate. Phytoestrogens (plant estrogens) are substances present in plants that are able to mimic the effects of estrogens because their structures are remarkably close to those of human estrogens and the body accepts them as such. Plant estrogens or phytoestrogens are the primitive ancestors of our own human estrogens. Phytoestrogens have been present in the human diet for thousands of years. We have adapted to and come to rely on their presence, and they are now thought to provide a "balance for the level of the bodys own estrogens as women progress through their reproductive years and beyond. Phytoestrogens are not as strong as the estrogens the body creates. In younger women who have adequate levels of their own estrogens in their blood, phytoestrogens have a limited effect because the bodys own estrogens are more potent. But with increasing age and declining estrogen production, phytoestrogens become increasingly important, taking over the role of the bodys estrogens. When women reach about 50 years of age and estrogen production is very low, the phytoestrogens become the major source of estrogenic activity to maintain the health and vitality of their bodies.
